Opus for Review Initiators
While its software is developed by UCLA, Opus is also integrated with a third-party system, Interfolio. In general, Review Initiators will interact exclusively with Interfolio to review and certify case documents. Below you will find a step-by-step guide and quick reference guide to help you navigate through Opus Interfolio.
The RI's Quick Reference Guide
This handout is designed for Review Initiators who are familiar with Opus but need something in front of them to quickly remind them of the steps. For first-timers needing detailed instructions, please use the Step-by-Step Guide for Review Initiators below.
Step-by-Step Guide for Review Initiators
The following guide outlines Opus review steps from the Review Initiator's perspective.
Start Opus Case
This is an offline step you must do first to initiate a case for your candidate in Opus.
Review Initiator: Send Form #2-A to LHR
Sending a completed Form #2-A to LHR will prompt the initiation of a case for the candidate's peer review. LHR must know the proposed action in order to initiate the case.
How to Log In to Interfolio
Once your candidate submits a packet online, you will receive an email prompt.
We recommend that PC users use the most updated version of Google Chrome as this browser has little to no compatibility issues with Opus Interfolio. Mac users should use the most updated version of Safari first and then use Google Chrome if issues occur.
Disregard the default log in screen. Because we're UCLA, we must log in as a Partner Institution.
This Shibboleth login screen may not appear if you've logged in recently.
How to View Candidate's Submitted Packet
If you are a Review Initiator for many candidates, you may see several names on your Case List.
This will take you to the document viewer to allow you to review each uploaded document.
How to Move Candidate's Case Forward
As an RI, you are only reviewing and NOT uploading documents to Opus. The candidate is responsible for uploading documents (including non-confidential certifications / comments) to Opus. LHR is responsible for uploading UNREDACTED letters after your review so please send all letters to LHR before your review. RIs should still continue to share REDACTED letters with their candidates.
If there are issues with the uploaded documents, DO NOT send this case forward. Please work with the candidate offline and then contact LHR if any of the uploaded documents need to be updated.
Interfolio defaults to checking this box. You don't need to send a message to move this case forward.
After this step, simply log out and you're done.
