Opus for Candidates
While its software is developed by UCLA, Opus is also integrated with a third-party system called Interfolio. In general, candidates will interact exclusively with Interfolio to upload case documents. Below you will find frequently asked questions, step-by-step guide and quick reference sheet to help you navigate through Opus Interfolio.
Frequently Asked Questions
Performance review is conducted in three stages: Appraisal Process, Peer Review, and Administrative Review. For the most part, the Appraisal Process will remain offline as it's been done in previous years. But rather than submitting a paper file to LHR, you'll be uploading your documents to Interfolio so they can be routed electronically for Peer Review and Administrative Review. So from a candidate's perspective, not much is changing except the way you're submitting your documentation.
Opus and Interfolio are designed and tested to work on the current and prior releases of most major browsers, but we found that Google Chrome works best for PC users and Safari works best for Mac users. Browsers including Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge behave unexpectedly with reported performance/speed issues and script errors.
Javascript must be enabled in your browser. If you are experiencing blank pages, forms, or buttons that do not work, you may need to update your browser or delete old files out of your cookies and/or cache.
In order for LHR to initiate a case for a candidate in Opus Interfolio, LHR must know the RI's recommended action first.
Once LHR has initiated your case, you will receive an email notification when you can begin uploading documents to your case.
This button is grayed out because one of the uploaded files in your packet may still be converting to PDF. Try the following first:
- Refresh the page a minute after uploading.
- Make sure you're using the recommended browser.
If refreshing the page or using the recommended browser does not work, please contact LHR.
Once you submit your packet, your RI will review and certify your case before it moves forward to LHR and then for CAPA and UL review.
After submitting, you can only view and can no longer edit your packet unless LHR gives you access.
Candidates are responsible for uploading their entire peer review documentation in Opus Interfolio. RIs will only review the uploaded documentation and move the case forward for CAPA review, but they will not upload or modify their candidates' cases.
Step-by-Step Guide for Candidates
The following guide outlines Opus Interfolio review steps from the Candidate's perspective.
How to Log In to Interfolio
After your RI sends Form #2-A to LHR, you will receive an email prompt once your case is initiated in Opus Interfolio.
We recommend that PC users use the most updated version of Google Chrome as this browser has little to no compatibility issues with Opus Interfolio. Mac users should use the most updated version of Safari first and then use Google Chrome if issues occur.
This Shibboleth login screen may not appear if you've logged in recently.
How to Upload Documents
After logging into Interfolio, the first page you'll see is your Dashboard with a left-hand side navigation bar.
Packets for your current review will appear under "Active" packets. You can view past packets in the section under "Completed" packets.
The Overview page lists materials you'll need to add to your packet. The ones listed as required are required of all candidates while the others are either optional or required depending on your proposed action.
Under each document requirement, there is a file naming convention each candidate must follow. Also, there may be additional information that will specify whether the document is required for your proposed action.
* Please follow the Opus file naming format listed under Librarian Peer Review - Appendices & Forms.
If you have a file that you've previously uploaded, you may select it from the "Choose Existing" section if it satisfies the requirement. Otherwise, you will add a new file to upload to your packet.
It's easiest to rename the document using the specified naming convention before adding it to your packet. However, if you must edit the name afterwards, see Step 8.
Repeat Steps 4-7 to upload each required document (and if necessary, any optional documents) to your packet. All documents not in PDF format will be converted to PDF once you add them to your packet. Always refresh your page to make sure the document(s) is converted to PDF.
- To EDIT the filename for a document you've added to your packet, click "Edit".
- To DELETE the file from your packet, click on the trash can icon.
How to Submit Packet
Make sure you're content with what you've uploaded to your packet as you won't be able to edit its contents after you click "Submit Section(s)".
