How to use a different language in a virtual application

Whether it is your first time logging into our virtual application server program (a.k.a. Citrix XenApp), or not, this tutorial will walk you through adding a different language keyboard to your applications before starting them. It will also teach you how to configure your language bar keyboard settings.

Adding a keyboard must be done before starting the application you will be using. If the application has been started already, it will need to be closed and the settings configured as below.


Step-by-step guide

 1. Log into Xenapp

First, log into XenApp using Internet Explorer or Safari (for Mac users) at this addresshttps://vdi.library.ucla.edu

 3. Choose Keyboard Languages
Select Keyboard Languages
 4. Click Change Keyboards
Select the tab Keyboards and Languages and click Change keyboards
Now you can add a keyboard for another language as you normally would in Windows 7
 5. Click Language Bar Tab

Now let's change how the language bar is displayed.

If you have already changed how it is displayed, then click OK now to exit.

Click the Language Bar tab and select how you would like to access the bar, or display in your programs

 

 

 6. Click Advanced Key Settings

Now let's choose how we want switch language keyboards with a key combination shortcut.

Click the Advanced Key Settings tab.

To change the key combination for any of the keyboards, or to scroll through switching them

Highlight your desired choice by clicking once to turn it blue

Click Change Key Sequence to select another combination dual combination

Allowed combinations are:  Ctrl/Ctrl+Shift/Left Alt+Shift with 0/1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/~/Grave Accent

 7. Finish

When you are finished click OK on all screens and it will close the program.

Now you can launch your application and see the desired affects!
