Duties

Monitoring public and bookable spaces.
Assisting with opening and closing library units.
Checking in/out library materials.
Instructs users how to renew items using the renewal function on the online public access Library catalog and performs in-person renewals as appropriate.
Compiles statistics of Loan Desk activity.
Process universal book returns, SRLF holds, recalls, ILL holds.
Performing walk-throughs for safety, ID checks, and food checks.
Works with and shelves catalogued material according to the Library of Congress [LC].
Performs general stack maintenance projects including; weeding, shifting, and relocating, as needed.
Shelf reading to ensure that books are shelved: in the correct order, uptight, and undamaged.
Searching for requested and missing materials.
Performing light cleaning: dusting, shelf organizing, wiping down tables and equipment.
Performing light cleaning: dusting, shelf organizing, wiping down tables and equipment.
Performing special facilities tasks as assigned and appropriately reporting facilities issues.
Assisting community members with the use of Library technology: scanner, copier, BruinPrint/Wepa, WiFi, and VPN/Proxy connectivity.
Troubleshooting other technology related issues following established guidelines.

Ability to get to work reliably and on time.

Ability to follow directions from supervisors.
Skill in operating computers and computer devices (printer, peripherals)
Ability to lift at least 30 lbs. and push loaded book trucks.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Wiling to perform detailed and repetitive tasks.
Ability to uphold confidentiality in the workplace.
Ability to troubleshoot printers, public workstations, and copy machines.

Preferred Skills
and Knowledge

Knowledgeable about UCLA Library policy and procedures and ability to enforce policy.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Library Management System.
