Duties | The UCLA Film & Television Archive (FTVA), a division of the UCLA Library, is internationally renowned for rescuing, preserving, and showcasing moving image media and is dedicated to ensuring that the visual achievements of our time are available for information, research, education, and enjoyment for now and future generations. Public Programming Department staff are responsible for organizing and executing Archive film screenings and related educational events held at the Billy Wilder Theater in the Hammer Museum. Under the supervision of the Senior Film Programmer, the Public Programs Assistant will assist with general administrative duties and tasks required for events. This work includes assisting with coordinating hospitality, guest needs, and assisting to complete related university forms. As directed, the Public Programs Assistant will liaise with staff from UCLA Library and Archive departments to formally communicate with guests about event timelines and travel and to collect information, including bios and releases. The Public Programs Assistant will edit texts such as guest bios for online use, and research, collect, and organize images utilized for event promotion. The Public Programs Assistant will also assist with organizing, collating and logging information related to public programs for reporting purposes. On occasion, the Public Programs Assistant will also assist with logistics in-person (such as gathering signatures on releases) at public events. The Public Programs Assistant will be trained in the basics of public programming, logistical planning and reporting, organization, data collection and image research. Project tasks include organizing still images and signed releases related to events in an online folder repository such as Box, preparing documents for planning purposes for upcoming screenings, and logistical support for outreach purposes. The Public Programs Assistant will also be trained in text editing and reformatting of information for outreach and public information purposes. |
