Overview

Library Macs - both Library staff and CLICC lending - have a program called Self Service that lets people easily install software or change settings.

Finding Self Service

Self Service is an application on your computer. Locate and open it like you would any other application.

(warning) The icon for Self Service may appear different using some methods.

Applications Folder

Spotlight Search

Press Command + Space or click the
magnifying glass icon in the upper right

Launchpad

Click the rocket ship icon in the dock

Using Self Service

Use the categories on the left, or the search box to find what you need.

Click the (info) button to find out more about anything you see in Self Service.

If you have a problem with Self Service, please submit a ticket at servicedesk.library.ucla.edu.

Application Updates

The Library uses Self Service to run certain application updates on all computers. These applications include Box Drive, Firefox, Chrome, Slack, Citrix Workspace, and others.

When a new version is available, it will appear in Self Service as an update. Typically, users have 7 days to install the update before it is automatically installed after force-quitting.
