Work Schedule | Between the hours of 7:45am - 10:00pm Monday-Friday, 9:45am - 6:00pm Saturday, 9:45am - 9:00pm Sunday. There may be shifts available on holidays. Must work a minimum of 10 hours per week during regular quarters (Fall, Winter, & Spring quarters). Open 7 days a week during the regular quarter. We are open during intersessions (Spring break, the week after Fall Quarter) and summers with modified hours. |

Duties | Entry-level position for the Campus Library Instructional Computing Commons. CLICC manages the circulation of laptops, projectors, video equipment, and other small items across all UCLA Library locations with major service hubs in Powell and Young Research Libraries and uses automatic lending lockers. CLICC services also support instruction and research across the library with technology services including computer classrooms, virtual event support, and technology-enabled study space support. In an ever-changing environment, consultants must become familiar with CLICC policies, learn how to answer and direct questions, and appropriately enforce rules to maintain a quality study environment. CLICC consultants are required to communicate with students, faculty, and staff in person, via video conferencing apps, and over the phone and maintain an organized work environment. Consultants will assist patrons at the CLICC service desk in checking out, and discharging devices and peripherals. Consultants will perform general maintenance projects and light cleaning duties. CLICC consultants will learn how to use the AV equipment, how to aid instructors teaching in the classrooms, and gain experience troubleshooting problems and notifying appropriate staff immediately to solve problems for the class session. Consultants are also expected to take initiative to assist with technology and Library related questions, which may include directing patrons to more suitable services depending on their needs. CLICC consultants also actively participate in developing their computer proficiency and skills through training programs provided by the Library and CLICC staff. CLICC’s main goal is to provide excellent customer service through technical support and troubleshooting. Consultants will learn how to troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and how to write up reports notifying technical staff of problems. Consultants will assist in special projects as assigned. |
Required Skills | Must have strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow staff members. Ability to communicate effectively and cordially with a wide range of people in a high volume setting. Ability to provide concise instructions and directions, and ability to follow both written and verbal instructions. Ability to provide high-level customer service. Physical ability to retrieve items from high and low shelves, ability to lift 25 pounds, and push loaded carts. Ability to work with frequent interruptions. Ability to arrive at work on time, meeting established work schedule. Basic experience using Mac and Windows workstations. Skill in operating computers and computer devices (printers, peripherals). Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Familiarity with institutionally supported storage and document apps (Bruinprint (wepa), Google Apps for Education, Box) and video communication apps, such as Zoom. Ability to:
General level of competence working with all kinds of hardware and peripherals. Willingness to learn new systems and software programs and impart that knowledge to users and other staff members. |
Preferred Skills | Knowledge of software programs that are frequently used by UCLA students. |
Comments | A resume is required for consideration. Work-Study preferred. Must be able to commit to at least three (3) regular session quarters, willing and able to work a minimum of 10 and up to maximum of 19 hours per week. Must be willing to work mornings, nights, and weekends as needed. Must be able to work during 10th and finals week. Must be available to work on-site at UCLA. Training will begin Week 0 of the upcoming 2026 Fall quarter. Prefer to interview freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.
