Duties

CLICC manages the circulation of laptops, projectors, video equipment, and other small items across all UCLA Library locations with major service hubs in Powell and Young Research Libraries and using automatic lending lockers. CLICC services also support instruction and research across the library with technology services including computer classrooms, virtual event support, and technology-enabled study space support. In an ever-changing environment, consultants must become familiar with CLICC policies, learn how to answer and direct questions, and appropriately enforce rules to maintain a quality study environment. CLICC consultants are required to communicate with students, faculty, and staff in person, via video conferencing apps, and over the phone and maintain an organized work environment. Consultants will learn how to assign stations to users and gain experience working with large groups of students. CLICC consultants will learn how to use the AV equipment, how to aid instructors teaching in the classrooms, and gain experience troubleshooting problems and notifying appropriate staff immediately to solve problems for the class session. Consultants are also expected to take initiative to assist with technology and Library related questions, which may include directing patrons to more suitable services, depending on their needs. CLICC consultants also actively participate in developing their computer proficiency and skills through training programs provided by the Library and CLICC staff. CLICC’s main goal is to provide excellent customer service through technical support and troubleshooting. Consultants will learn how to troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and how to write up reports notifying technical staff of problems. Must be able to commit to at least three (3) regular session quarters, willing and able to work at least 14 to 19 hours per week. Must be available to work on-site at UCLA.

Required Skills
and Knowledge

Basic experience using Mac and Windows workstations. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Familiarity with institutionally supported storage and document apps (Bruinprint (wepa), Google Apps for Education, Box) and video communication apps, such as Zoom. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to:

Preferred Skills
and Knowledge

Willingness to provide feedback on improving the organization and services.

Familiarity with CLICC services.

Training and documentation skills highly desirable.

General knowledge of macOS and Windows 10.

Previous work experience, particularly in an IT-related service.

Experience with popular software packages such as MS Office, Adobe, Macromedia, Internet Explorer, etc.

Experience with video production (filming and editing).

Experience with statistical software packages such as those available at CLICC.

Experience with data visualization.

Experience using sound editing software.

Experience using Google Sheets, Docs, and Refine.

Familiarity with JavaScript and database queries (SQL).

Experience developing visualizations, diagrams, and graphics with Adobe suite or other relevant software.

Experience with audio production (recording and editing).
