LIBRARY STAFF
Log InThe URL for Confluence is docs.library.ucla.edu. Access to Confluence is through your Library domain account, which is also used for Jira, /wiki/spaces/LITKB/pages/39136495, and logging on to Windows desktops. Your account can be managed at account.library.ucla.edu.
StructureContent in Confluence is developed in pages, which have a parent-child hierarchy and can easily link to each other. New pages are created as a child page of the one you are currently viewing. A Confluence space is a collection of pages for a specific subject, department, or project. New spaces can be created by DIIT. Go to the Space Directory to see them all. Spaces as well as individual pages can have restrictions on viewing and editing.
SearchSimply clicking in the search box in the upper right will show you the last pages you've viewed in reverse order. For a dedicated search screen, click "Advanced Search" or go directly to docs.library.ucla.edu/dosearchsite.action
SharingPages shared with you will appear as a notification in bell icon in the upper right, and will also be sent as an email. To share with others, click on the Share button. There, you can enter names and a message to share directly from Confluence, or you can copy and past the share link, which remains constant even if the page title changes.
EditingClicking on takes you into the Confluence editor with a suite of standard formatting tools, along with Confluence macros for specific functionality, such as a table of contents or a customized search box. To see what the page will look like before publishing, click thein the lower right and select Preview. If you do not see an edit button, it means you do not have permissions to edit that particular page. Personal SpacesEveryone has a personal space in Confluence that they control. It is a good place to practice creating content or experimenting with macros. See Atlassian's instructions on accessing your space for the first time: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/create-your-personal-space-777010869.html
SupportAs a software product, Confluence is procured, configured, and backed up by DIIT for the benefit of the Library. Your immediate coworkers are the best source for what is relevant for you on Confluence. If you run into technical trouble, please submit a Service Desk ticket. |
