The Carpentries teach foundational computational, coding, and data science skills to researchers, staff, and information professionals worldwide with no or minimal prior programming knowledge who find themselves increasingly having to write code to conduct their work. The Data Science Center manages the Carpentries membership for the Library and organizes workshop for the campus community.

Workshop Details

  • Types of Workshops: Software Carpentry, Data Carpentry, and Library Carpentry.
  • Skills Covered: Basic programming, data manipulation and visualization, version control with Git, and data management best practices.

Audience

  • Target Audience: Researchers, staff, faculty, and students across various disciplines.

  • Expected Outcomes: Improved computational skills, enhanced data management capabilities, and increased confidence in using coding and data tools.

Instructors

  • Qualifications: Workshops are taught by certified Carpentries instructors who are engaged in their fields and skilled in collaborative teaching methods.
