Signing In, Authentication

All modern Adobe software requires you to sign in. At UCLA, you use your UCLA Logon ID to authenticate.

Enter "ucla.edu" for the email address wherever you see an Adobe sign in screen, which can be within Adobe applications or their website, and then authenticate in the usual manner.

Requesting Access

Access to Adobe CC is not perpetual and will need to be periodically requested.

When you sign in, you should see something like this:

If you don't have access, you might see this:

If you do not have access, go to:

If you already requested access, you may get an email from "kivuto.com" when your access expires.

Getting the Software

The installation methods described below are for the Creative Cloud Desktop application, from which individual Adobe applications can be managed. After you sign in, you can choose which specific applications to install.

For example: if you need only Photoshop, first install and sign into Creative Cloud Desktop (or "Adobe Creative Cloud") and then click the Install button for Photoshop.

Please note that just because the software is available does not mean it will run efficiently on a particular computer. Many of the applications are very processor-, memory-, and storage-intensive.
Consider using built-in software for simple image and video tasks, such as Preview and Quicktime on a Mac, Photos on Windows.

Library-managed Computers

Contact the Service Desk if you need assistance on a Library computer.

Library Mac computer

Open Self Service and look for the Adobe Creative Cloud option.

Log in at creativecloud.adobe.com and look for the download links.
Laptop users should have administrator rights to allow the software installation.

Library Windows laptop

Library laptops

Staff with Windows or Mac laptops should have the ability to install software. Log in at creativecloud.adobe.com and look for the download links.

Laptop users should have administrator rights to allow the software installation.

desktops

Please submit a request to have the software installed on a Library Windows or Mac desktop.

Personal computers

Follow IT Services' instructions: How do I access, download, and install Adobe Creative Cloud desktop applications?

Contact the campus IT Support Center if you have difficulty with Adobe on your personal device.

Simultaneous Logons

Because Adobe only allows 2 devices to be active at once, you may encounter an activation limit message. The same screen will allow you to deactivate one of the other 2 devices so that you can continue to log in.

If you were previously assigned a Creative Cloud license

There are a few things to note if you already had access to Creative Cloud through the Library's Adobe account (now defunct).

You likely used an Adobe ID based on your Library email address to sign in to Adobe on your computer. This Adobe ID (known as Personal or Individual) will remain separate from your UCLA Logon ID (known as Enterprise or Federated), which may be confusing as they likely use the same name and email address.

Please open any Adobe application and select Help > Sign Out. The application will close and prompt you to log in again - use your UCLA Logon ID at this point, as described in How do I access, download, and install Adobe Creative Cloud desktop applications?.

You can transfer settings or content from the Personal account and even delete it to avoid confusion.
