title2. Configure Connection

A configuration window will appear. You must set the following fields so:

EAP Method: PEAP
Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2
Identity: UCLAID with @ucla.edu (e.g. jbruin@ucla.edu)

Type your password, and uncheck the box for saving identity and password. Then, click Connect.

Note: mostly it is irrelevant whether you tell Chrome OS to save your identity and password or not. If the user is Browsing as Guest, then all Guest information is reset upon Exit or Shut Down. However, if the user logs in their Google account to use the Chromebook, their credentials will be saved with their Google account information on the laptop.

Thus, it is best practice simply to uncheck this box in all cases.

Eduroam is a secure network, unlike UCLA_WEB, and students, staff, and faculty should use this network over other campus wireless networks whenever possible. Unfortunately, our Chromebooks currently cannot force eduroam use.

As an authenticated network, eduroam requires users to log in with UCLAID and password. This prevents the Chromebooks from anticipating a user’s credentials before they use it, and in most cases, research Chromebook users will not have these credentials to begin with.

Therefore, although eduroam is the preferred campus network for all wireless Internet activity, we do not force research Chromebook users to use this network over UCLA_WEB.
